HISTORY
The Richlandtown Inn, formerly the Richlandtown Hotel, was built in 1812 of brick and named the Spread Eagle. It was a general store, package store, tavern, rooming house and stagecoach stop for the travelers from Philadelphia to Bethlehem. The carriage house behind the Richlandtown Inn was built in the 1880's. At the turn of the century the exterior of the Inn was changed to stucco and masonry. The kitchen was updated and they also added a third floor to the Inn at that time.
In the 1930's the name was changed to the Eagle Hotel, and at that time the livery stable and carriage hours were converted into apartments. In the 1980's the Inn was renamed the Richlandtown Hotel, Bar, Food, and Lodging, Est. 1812. The inside was preserved and redecorated to the early 1900 rural atmosphere accented with farm tools, house wares and antiques, giving it a warm, cozy feeling of another time. The thirty-five foot mahogany and oak wood bar is original. In 1904 it was brought from Allentown by horse and wagon. The walls and ceiling of the tavern have original tin covering.
The Richlandtown Hotel was renamed the Richlandtown Inn in the 1990's. The current owners have refined the atmosphere of the dining room with crisp linens, soft candlelight and fresh flowers. Their philosophy is to provide and inviting atmosphere where family and friends can meet and enjoy each others company while providing a thoroughly enjoyable meal accompanied by friendly and efficient service.
The Richlandtown Inn is wheelchair accessible and smoke free. We are fully licensed to serve beer, liquor and wine. Take-out beer is also available.
